North Festival 2024

May 24, 2024

Summer festivals in Portugal are among the country's main cultural attractions, offering a wide variety of music genres, from rock to electronic music. These festivals provide entertainment for all tastes and are also a unique opportunity to experience local culture and gastronomy. Portuguese summer festivals are some of the most eagerly awaited cultural events of the year. There are festivals for all musical tastes, including Rock in Rio, NOS Alive, Super Bock Super Rock, and MEO Sudoeste in the south, as well as Primavera Sound Porto, Vodafone Paredes de Coura, and MEO Marés Vivas in the northern region. Another highly anticipated event is the North Festival, taking place this year from May 24th to 26th in the famous Parque Serralves.

The North Festival, celebrating its sixth edition in 2024, aims to be much more than a music festival. It seeks to be a reference on the national cultural scene due to the distinctive experiences it offers, making it charismatic. Last year, over 50,000 people attended the three-day event. Given this success, the organization has enhanced the festival-goers' experience by choosing Parque de Serralves as the new venue. This year, 15 artists are expected, with 5 artists performing each day. On May 24th, Nininho Vaz Maia, Iñigo Quintero, Maria Becerra, Myke Towers, and Alejandro Sainz will perform; on the 25th, Plaza, The Reytons, Birdy, Tom Odell, and Keane; and finally, on the 26th, Wiu, Menos é Mais, Bell Marques, Claudia Leitte, and Nelly Furtado.

Tickets for the festival range from €55 for the general public to €150 for a VIP pass with a more customized experience.

Parque de Serralves, the venue for this event, is an 18-hectare park in Portugal that features interconnected spaces, including formal gardens, woodlands, and a traditional farm. Designed by architect Jacques Gréber in the 1930s, it is a unique and valuable part of Portugal's landscape heritage. The park also houses a contemporary art museum managed by the Serralves Foundation, which showcases avant-garde works by modern artists. The museum's exhibitions change frequently, with no permanent collection on display. A key feature of the park is its diverse collection of trees and shrubs, boasting over 8,000 woody plants representing around 230 species and varieties, both native and exotic.
